For some people, it’s a department store, for others, a small boutique. For me, shopping nirvana is TK Maxx.
So when the brand approached me to see whether I would take up their Christmas gifting challenge, it was a bit of a no-brainer. Like, duh.
While some friends can’t see the appeal, I have always had the patience to rummage in TKM. Or, as my fellow obsessive (AKA my mum) affectionately calls it, ‘TK’s’.
And while it’s not the done thing to publicly discuss the brands you can find there, let’s just say you can find some really, really impressive designers alongside those unusual pieces you would be hard pushed to seek out on the high street.
It’s also fair to say much of my own Christmas shopping starts at TKM anyway. Kidswear, books, toys and even those important necessities like sleeping bags are all vastly reduced (up to 60% off RRP).
This year, the brand have created an ad campaign for Christmas called The Moment – showing the joy of receiving a unique gift.
Last year I bought my mother-in-law a gorgeous branded cashmere cardigan – and the kids got the most gorgeous fabric Advent calendars. And every year I stock up on branded Christmas cards and wrapping paper – so worth buying in bulk.
The key is to enter TK Maxx with an open mind – it’s a treasure hunt. Don’t go with a plan to get a specific thing. In that respect, it’s a bit like shopping for vintage clothes. Get organised, so always grab a trolley or basket and prepare to load up when you spot something you love.
Deliveries arrive every day (sometimes more) and no two stores are the same, but remember, what you see is what they have. There are no stock rooms, everything comes straight from the delivery to the shop floor.
And it isn’t old season stock, because TKM deal directly with brand owners and designers, their buyers scour the globe every single day selecting a few pieces or thousands. It all depends on what they pick and the deal that they strike.
As I say, this wasn’t a hard challenge. Here are some of the gems I found, in The Moment:
For Charlie:
For Lila:
For my wannabe chef husband:

The luggage at TK Maxx is amazing. Some great prints and branded suitcases that would really make that jet setter in the family smile.
For my fashionista colleagues:
For the office Secret Santa:
For Mum:

I love getting new PJ sets and slippers for Christmas. These would make amazing presents and you can buy from £16.99
For my mates children:
